Germany 1919-39 Edexcel
An interactive session of the Germany course (content, structure and marks)
Service Description
Many students find focused revision difficult for the GCSE, and this session is designed to target three key areas: 1 – Chronology and specific factual detail. 2 – Context 3 – Exam skills and ‘the perfect answer’ The day starts with an overview of the Germany course (content, structure and marks). Students are issued with a provided revision book for the day. There is an overview of the period – focusing on the key themes of the course. These are the birth of Weimar Germany, problems between 1918 and 1923, the recovery of the ‘Golden Year’, the collapse of Weimar Germany, the rise of Hitler and Nazi Germany. There are support notes in the booklet provided. Students then hear and see some interactive interviews with key witnesses from the key moments of the period. There is an opportunity to ask questions. There are 12 witnesses in total. Support notes are in the booklet. Finally, there is an ‘exam-busting’ session which allows students to consider ‘good’ and ‘bad’ examination answers. They have copies in their booklet, but there is a chance to annotate, discuss and ask questions about the exam. This will tackle some of the common mistakes made in the examination; and will also look at how to ‘get unstuck’ when in the pressure of the exam room. The session will be interactive, fast-moving and relevant to the demands of the Edexcel paper.
